You are doing a commendable job. Child sexual abuse and Incest are AGE old age problems. Unfortunately in the cases of sexual abuse, ‘Incest’is the most dangerous an yet most ignored one. The story of this evil act begins from home. Needless to say, it is the ''most shameful'' when own family members who are supposed to protect their children, ‘ incest them’, make them 'sex slave' and dump them to breathe in trauma, depression, self guilt, impotent anger and helplessness. These monsters induce all sort of fears in the mind of victims like they will be rebuked and discarded by the family, they could be killed or abandoned as punishment, they will be mocked at in society, they will become an object of shame for ever and so on. The most regrettable thing is that Indian law does not regard 'incest' as a crime.
Till now, if any accused is convicted, it will be under section 376 of Indian Penal Code that covers ‘ rape’ not ‘incest’ and the minimum punishment for such a crime is hardly 10 years imprisonment. An Indian father /uncle can not be convicted for incest. It is a shame - how Indian law deals with such a tormentor. While in developed countries incest is illegal. It is condemned as a heinous crime. After years of hard efforts by NGOs and Social Activists, developed countries have legalized harsh punishment for incest.
I do hope with your sincere efforts our country will have a long awaited law to punish the offenders and stop the crime.

It is surprising that I wrote a comment with so much zeal and feel on the burning issue yesterday around 1:00 p.m. and it has not been published as yet. Why did you ask for our comments then ? If you can not respect people's sentiment, please do not ask them and give hope to them that there voice will reach out to millions of sufferers for their support.

The show, "satyamevjayate" is the need of the nation. The efforts, and team work, is commendable.

There are so many isues, that may be, and need to be raised, from this platform. Some of these, may be:
1. Domestic/ matrimonial violence
2. Sex Education/ awareness to children - [Only being debated for over 60 years!]
3. Development of Inter-personal communication skills/ relations, starting from parents-child; siblings; school mates; friends; colleagues; spouses; and again with patrents/ children. This gnawing defficit, from global scenetio, appears to be root cause of violence, and terrorrism.
4. Our education system/ curriculam too needs drastic revision, to make our progeny strong, mature, patient, tolerant & affable.

Quite a lot, to suggest; however i shall be keen to elaborate/ contribute in any manner, at call from your team.

I watched the third episode of Satyamev Jayate. I liked that Aamir Khan hit on the topic Dowry/ Dahej. Till date I am an engineering student. After watching the episode my Mother decided that she will not let me get married unless I get a job and earn a living of my own. Hats off, Aamir Khan - I am Amrita Saha from Kolkata.

Every time the topic of Alcoholism is covered coverage of the Alcoholic is given, but people forget the families. It is they who need the first help to cope with Alcoholism at home. Just like number of AA was flashed I wish the Helpline no of Al Anon too should have flashed.
Being an alcoholic wife I know the pain and the agony the family goes through. Would like to share what it is to be in Al Anon.
Alcoholism is also known as a FAMILY DISEASE (where all the members get badly affected). Alcoholic’s family which often may include parents, spouse, children, siblings. An alcoholic can totally disrupt family life and cause harmful effects that can last lifetime. Alcoholism also has negative effects on the spouse of an alcoholic. The spouse may have negative feelings of hatred, self-pity, avoidance of social contacts, physically and mentally ill. Having financial difficulties is another major issue that families of alcoholics have to deal with.
Members of alcoholic’s families become co-dependants. Unknowingly, co-dependant family members often become “enablers”. An enabler will clean up the alcoholic vomit, and cover up for all the wrong things he does. The enabler lies for the alcoholic, and thus enables the alcoholic, continue to drinking.
There are three things family members need to do in order to resolve this problem.
1.They must learn about alcoholism and understand how to deal with it more effectively.
2The three ‘C’ s - they are not the cause, cannot control and cannot cure.
There are many methods of treatment of alcoholism. One most effective treatment program is Alcoholic Anonymous. Families and friends of alcoholics need treatment just as much as alcoholics. Al-Anon and A lateen are the two most successful organizations helping the families of alcoholics
How will Al-Anon help me?
Many who come to Al-Anon/A lateen are in despair, feeling hopeless, unable to believe that things can ever change. We want our lives to be different, but nothing we have done has brought about change. We all come to Al-Anon because we want and need help. In Al-Anon and A lateen, members share their own experience, strength, and hope with each other. You will meet others who share your feelings and frustrations, if not your exact situation. We come together to learn a better way of life, to find happiness whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. No outsider can understand what a person is going through better than those who have been there; those who are now ready and able to talk about their experience in the company of a support group, and these are of course, also members of Al Anon. The affinity provides a bond that is extremely strong, and this support for the new identity offers an alternative to the alcoholic connection. Eventually, the dependent spouse transfers dependence from the alcoholic to the Al Anon program and members, and only later moves on to greater independence on their own personality and self.

We watched Rain-water-harvesting episode on vijay t.v. on Sunday 22/7/12.
Nature does the R.W.H. by collecting in the depression or low lying area, which we call as lake & ponds.
Bombay municipal corporation has adopted the natural way of R.W.H. They have constructed storm-water-drain (without any sewer contamination and which are cleaned every summer – pre-monsoon months) to collect the rain water which are directed to lakes and ponds numbering more than 250. Water thus collected is purified and supplied to citizens 24*7*365 days without interruption. All water-borne diseases have been wiped out. So, the infectious disease hospital was closed.
They should have been highlighted and then you should have raised the question, why ever after several judgement by Supreme court and Madras high court , the encroachment in water-bodies are not protected.
The Jalladanpettai lake in Medavakkam pin 600 100 was devoid of encroachments one year before. Now it is completely encroached , the bond has been broken.
Can individual collection of rainwater replace the natural way of collection ..??
Individuals can collect only 5% of the rain. In the absence of sewerage system only polluted water will be collected. You have completely forgot about the quality of water, collected by few persons.

Here is an illustration :
The builder Isha Homes has built Isha signature villas, adjoining Jalladampettai lake, in Medavakkam- 600 100, where I live. Rain water harvesting has been done by the builder, which is not functioning. So we went to Chennai Metropolitan Water and sewerage board to know the design and proper way of constructing the Rain-water-harvesting. They have no design. No instruction on how to construct. No guidelines. What is the use of having a rule which cannot be implemented . This is the stark reality, which should have been highlighted.
Please come and see ours. You will see lake is being completely encroached and the Rain water harvesting not functioning. So the well is dry and we have no water.
Now I can only remember "you too Brutus."

Hi Amirji,
It was the first time we watched your show,it was about the dowry. My mom and dad were really impressed. It was my brother's age to get married,a girl was searched,and wedding date was fixed. No engagement was done just straight away wedding was to take place. No one was invited,I am married,I too was not invited.
It was just my mom dad,younger brother,And the groom.
On the other side was only the bride and her parents only. They got married happily.........but NOW the problem here that has come up is that no one is talking to my parents because of that. But still we are happy we are really thankfull to you Aamirji. Hopefully we bring the change in the society. ��
